DAPORIJO, Jan 19: The MSD Cricket Club lifted the Winter T20 Cricket Tournament trophy which concluded here today.
The final match was played between ECEB Cricket Club and MSD Cricket Club. Botom Sorum was declared the man of the match during the final. Along with the trophy, the winner club was given a cash prize of Rs. 40000.
The tournament was organized by the All New Market Youth Welfare Association, which was started on Jan 9 with participation of 10 teams from the district.

144 CrPC in Longding opposed
ITANAGAR, Jan 19: The Longding District Students Union (LDSU) vehemently opposed the imposition of the section 144 Cr.PC in Longding district. Londging Deputy Commissioner in an order on January 12 has imposed section 144 Cr.PC in order to prevent unlawful activities and maintain peaceful atmosphere till the end of financial year on March 31 next, which, according to LDSU, is illegal and clever move of the DC to prevent the proposed dharna of the Union in protest against the lack of administration in the district.
Moreover, the order of the administration bears no clarity and authenticity as the Minister and MLA Thangwang Wangham had already described Londging as a peaceful district, the Union said and alleged that imposition of 144 CrPC for more than two months is an abuse of power. ‘The common people are facing lots of difficulties and problems in managing their daily works due to imposition of such order, the Union claimed and appealed the state government to lift the order immediately.

Daporijo, Jan’19: A devastating fire accident has charred a man to death at Dasi village, under Chetam Circle.
The deceased has been identified as Bade Mengnia. He was alone in the house when the fire started around 9 AM. The cause of the fire is yet to be ascertained. Dasi village is around 34 km away from Daporijo.
Property including local ornaments worth more than Rs 10 lakhs was completely gutted in the fire.
In another fire incident at Tanium Putung Colony Daporijo, two houses were burnt completely along properties worth crores of money.
The fire that broke out at around 3 AM here today was reportedly due to short circuit.

ITANAGAR, Jan 19: The All Nyishi Unemployed Youth Organization (ANUYO) has written to Circle Officer, Banderdewa requesting for immediate ban on playing of dice (gambling) in the melas being set up at Banderdewa area. The organization claimed that open gambling is affecting the lives of many people as they are losing their hard earned money.
They also added that even though Capital district administration had banned playing of dice, but it is not yet being obeyed by the mela owners operating within Banderdewa area.

ASF serve ultimatum to government
ITANAGAR, Jan 19: The Arunachal Students’ Federation (ASF) in a letter to Minister of Power (Electrical) has served a seven days ultimatum to look into the public grievances relating to installation of prepaid electric metering system.

Pasighat, Jan 19: In a whirlwind 3 days tour to East Siang and Lower Dibang Valley to take stock of upcoming, ongoing and existing tourism infrastructures/buildings, Director Tourism Karma Leki visited Pasighat, Mebo and Dambuk.
Leki said that, the purpose of constructing tourist infrastructures must be achieved at any cost. He took reference of some of wasted and abandoned tourist infrastructures in East Siang and others where the structures were either left half or poorly constructed.
He added that the department will ensure no such wastes are done for promotion of tourism in the state. He further said that his department is planning for a Siang river festival shortly.

ITANAGAR, Jan 19: Indo Global Social Service Society (SMILE) conducted awareness cum sensitization programme on social issues, rights and liberty and government schemes at Gohpur here on January 17.
Speaking on the topic on “minority’ as recourse person, Arunachal Civil Society chairman Patey Tayum said that the minority people are suffering from discrimination and subordination. He, however, said “unfortunately, some of the leaders of tribal community could not understand the real sense of minority.” Arunachal’s tribal people do not come under the minority group, he added.
Tayum also highlighted on slum which have been categorized as – notified slums, recognized slums and identified slum. He suggested the participants to preserve the forest for posterity.
An ACS team member Neelam Rupa encouraged the youths to choose the right path in their life and to respect their parents who are the guardians, guides and resource persons.

Furthermore, the BJP has questioned the lack of interest shown by some branches of local banks across the state in implementation of the Prime Minister’s Jan Dhan Yojana. The party while expressing concern over the indifferent attitude of the State ruling Congress said that a large chunk of people will be deprived from availing special benefits which they are entitled to if enrolled by January 26 next.
The PMJDY which was launched in August of last year aims at providing bank accounts to the poor. Apart from providing many other financial benefits, those who open accounts by January 26, 2015 over and above the Rs 1 lakh accident, they will be given life insurance cover of Rs 30,000.

And it is going to get a new name from the Orange Festival that begun this year.

Likewise, there are many like him in Dambuk who by dint of their sheer hard labours developed their Orange Orchards and earned enough to support their living. Today, there are more than 100 families in Dambuk who have got Orange Gardens and many of them solely depend on it as a main source of income to support their family. Communication bottleneck of the area stand as a great hurdle in the marketing of oranges and the farmers have to compromise in the form of cheap rates of their produce due to high transportation cost owing to bad roads and perishable nature of the produce. Despite all these, Orange Festival at Dambuk this year has given them a reason to smile!
As the Chief Minister of Arunachal Pradesh, NabamTuki in his opening speech has rightly said, “Orange Festival should not be celebrated for only eating and merry making but should be celebrated for economic development of the people. The sounds of strings of guitar blended with the stormy winds of Sisar (Sissiri) River echoing through the Orange Groves in the evening coupled with the tents by Kite Manza that were set up just above the river bank of Sisar overlooking the view of the rivers all through its length made the venue a perfect one for the festival. The outdoor activities like River Rafting along the Dibang river from Nizham Ghat to Bomjir Ghat, Elephant ride across the Sisar River and 5 km riding of the All Terrains Bikes (RZRS & Sportsman) on the stony slopes were quite tempting for adventure lovers. Speaking on the occasion as resource person RGU assistant professor Dr Daniel Mize explained the ecological important of birds as well as benefit of bird’s life to human. Apart from other benefit he stressed on how birds promote ecotourism and culture of local tribal people.
Ripin Taba JRF, RGU, spoke at length on the threatened bird of Arunachal Pradesh and factors responsible for declining of bird population. While speaking on factors responsible for population decline of birds, he said hunting is the main cause. Indian peafowl and green peafowl are locally extinct from the state and other species may also meet the same fate, if we don’t stop poaching of birds, he said. He also spoke on sustainable strategies to conserve the birds in Arunachal Pradesh.

On January 14, the team visited Idduki district Panchayat. This was flowed by visit to Idduki Block Panchayat and Gram Panchayat office at Vazhathoppe village on January 15. During their visit the team observed certain similarities in the Panchayati Raj system and funding pattern in both Arunachal Pradesh and Kerala.
However, the major observations which the team brought home is devolution of power to the PRIs with 3 Fs in Kerala, process of planning by each tier independently and 50 percent reservation for women in planning. Another important reason for the success of the PRIs in Kerala is the close coordination of PRIs with Kudambasree SHGs and the ability of Panchayats to generate resources of their own, the team observed.

As is common in winters that flights are invariably delayed because of fog, so is this small anecdote.
As my mobile alarm raced its irritating tone on the cold winter morning in Delhi I struggled out of my warm blankets to get ready to catch that early morning flight. Managing to reach just on time to board the flight perchance I met a friend on the same flight.
As the pilot made the announcements in a groggy voice for takeoff and the crew with sleepy eyes made their routine demonstration and drill, we settled down as I was ushered in the 4th row and seated with another lean gentleman probably in his early fifties. He was in a grey checked suit and feet comfortably snugged in leather with glossy iron plaques prominently displayed PRADA.
With thick fog enveloped all over the airport. I was surprised that the flight was on time. Technology has come a long way and perhaps this machine was equipped with some anti fog device, I said to myself and got myself locked with the safety belt.
The groggy voice of the pilot again came alive on the public address and in a very apologetic tone announced that the take off would be delayed due to very low visibility and signed off. Well technology has its limitations I rued to myself and got into a light moments with the friend I met in the airport who was seated behind me.
Well the wait inside the aircraft progressed from half an hour to one hour as our patience was being tested. Seeing the visible decline of patience of a fully packed flight, the crew started distributing packs of chips while not sharing any information when the flight would take off.
The passengers were all busy with the chips and the latent protest died in the low sounds of the crispy potatoes being crushed in the mouths of the hungry passengers. All must have rushed to the airport without eating fighting the inertia inside the warm blankets on a cold winter morning, l thought.
After three long hours of wait inside the aircraft we hear a voice again. "This is
captain Gupta from the cockpit. The fog has cleared and we have permission from the
ATC to take off in five minutes."-
Once airborne the tired hungry passengers all dozed off to comfortable sleep catching
up on the lost sleep. The crew then immediately made announcements that food will
be on sale shortly. Like the fellow passengers, I was also very hungry and was looking
forward to my pre-
The air hostess very politely checked the list and handed me my meal. The gentleman next to me and my friend behind were both drowned in deep sleep. The hostess asked me to keep the pre booked meal of my friend so that I could hand it over to him once he is awake which I dutifully did. I enjoyed voraciously my share and kept the box of my friend in the middle seat which was vacant. Being satiated I got busy on mobile game the app which I had got recently.
In my deep concentration to cross and reach the next level in my game, I could hear sounds of very fast paced chomping from the side and in the first instance ignored and continued my game. The sound became louder and more rhythmic. I got suspicious and turned to look at my fellow passenger the lean gentleman and to my utter surprise he was very quickly chewing and eating away the valuable food of my friend which I was to dutifully take care and keep close custody to give it to my hungry friend who will be awake soon.
At one moment I felt I should just jump both my hands and snatch whatever remaining food from his hands and mouth. When I carefully looked I could see that my friend’s food was almost finished and suddenly I was engulfed with a mixed sense of guilt and pleasure. On the one hand I failed to be a good custodian of a treasure which was handed to me with so much trust and in the other hand the look of satisfaction on my fellow passenger on satiating his hunger filled me with happiness.
That very moment my friend woke up and the air hostess came and with both their eyes staring towards me demanding the food back.
I was so embarrassed to let them know that I have been an utter failure and could not take care of this small duty. Not knowing what to do, I called the crew close to me and said, "Ma'am I was so hungry so I ate it, can u give another packet to my friend".
China reacts vehemently to Japan’s remark on Arunachal
BEIJING, Jan 19: China today reacted sharply to Japanese Foreign Minister's remarks about Arunachal Pradesh being part of India, saying it is "seriously concerned" and has lodged a protest with Japan demanding a clarification.
"China has taken note of such report," Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Hong Lei told a media briefing here while replying to a question on Japanese Foreign Minister Fumio Kishida's comments in New Delhi last week.
"We are seriously concerned about this and have lodged solemn representation (diplomatic protest) with the Japanese side, asking Japan to make (a) clarification and immediately remove negative implications arising from this," Hong said.
Replying to a question during an interaction in New Delhi on January 17 about Japan's indication that it may not be involved in infrastructure projects in Arunachal Pradesh and whether this was due to China's position, Kishida had said though his government wants to improve connectivity in northeast India, there was no plan to provide any aid to the state.
"You specifically pointed out the state Arunachal Pradesh in North Eastern India which is a territory of India which is pending in terms of its dispute with China and for the moment to my understanding there are currently no plans of Japan to provide aid to this state," he had said. China claims Arunachal Pradesh as part of Southern Tibet.
Hong said Kishida's remarks are contrary to previous stand taken by Japan on this issue in the past.
"Japan has said explicitly to China that it holds no position and it will not intervene in the disputed area between China and India. Japan has also made public clarifications on this," he said apparently referring to Japan's stand expressed in November last year that it would not involve itself in infrastructure projects in Arunachal Pradesh.

Carry out traffic awareness campaign
In yet another road accident, a girl hailing from Naharlagun town was yesterday crushed to death. As per the police report, she died after coming under the back tyre of a truck at Jully road. The girl was pillion riding in a Scooty at the time of the incident. It is noticed that every year around New Year time, the state capital witnesses sudden rise in road accidents.
The majority of accidents are related to drink and drive. Especially most of the victims are teenage school and college going students. However, surprisingly capital administration doesn’t carry out any traffic drive during this time of the year. It is important to implement strict traffic rules in capital complex so as to rein in the rogue drivers. Also lack of traffic awareness among the road users is also one of the main reasons for high accident rate. Keeping this in mind, the traffic police along with capital administration should carry out awareness campaign on regular interval.

The 72 hours hunger strike(later extended indefinite) by Ms Ujum Perying (aspirant)
to press the demands of APPSCC 2013-
In the hunger strike, many leaders from various political parties, needless to mention their names visited the platform, some of them more than once, to show solidarity. Finally, a solution came late night on 15th January 2015 in which the Commission and the striking aspirants came to some sort of solutions for the greater interest of all and broke their indefinite hunger strike.
The good outcome of the protest is that the Commission has recommended a Reform Commission which is going to have per reaching effect on the future Civil Service Examination in the state.
Now that everything is well, let the Commission do their home work for the smooth conduct of the remaining competitive examinations with new team of Commission members and officers ahead, furthermore, let alone the aspirants to work hard to do their best and make a bright career out of it.
All the best to the Commission and the aspirants equally! The guns have fell silent now and all the fronts are closed. No chance to grind his axe any more. But all have a point of his own for jubilation and me too...!

Dear Editor,
Through your esteemed daily, I would like to say a word of praise for Ujum Perying and Consultative Committee, APPSCCE (Mains) who went for hunger strike against corruption. They have shown that with determination, commitment, self belief and positive thinking, nothing is impossible.
Had the ant given up trying and not tried to climb the wall because of its repeated
unsuccessful attempts in doing so, it would have surely died in the well. Had not
the will to free the country been strong in Mahatma Gandhi and in our other freedom
fighters, India, the biggest democracy of the world would never have been a reality.
We would still have been under the rule of the British. Had not there been self determination,
self belief, positive thinking and commitement, the battle which Ujum and consultative
committee have fought would not have been won. By taking the initiative to make APPSC
exam corruption free, they had remind everyone of quote "be the change that you wish
to see in the world" which was quoted by our father of nation-

What is going on? It was thought that Prepaid meter imbroglio has died out. But it
has resurrected. One should be granted enough liberty to have the option of choosing

Political legacy and INC
Dear Editor,
This is in reference to the letter that appeared in the Readers Forum of 19 Jan Edition. It seems that the writer does not have concrete knowledge about political democracy.
First of all there is no system of political legacy in Indian democracy. More over India is a democratic country and every citizen of the India has the right to participate in any election. In case of Late Jarbom Gamlin, contribution in the field of political and social development towards Arunachal cannot be compared with anyone else. The sudden demise of Late Gamlin is in fact an irreparable loss to the society and Arunachal Pradesh in general, but the Political drama staged by the family members of Late Gamlin is a big slap to the Indian National Congress. It is found that the family members of Late Gamlin itself seems to be in a confused state because they could not decide who will carry the so called legacy of Late Gamlin, as three of his siblings are seeking ticket.
Such drama is in fact very insulting to the soul of a true leader Late Gamlin as well as the Congress party. So the comparison made by Nyaluk Rakshap itself has created a mixed reaction among the people of 27th Liromoba Assembly Constituency.
If we speak about the legacy, it is not always necessary that a family member will
be chosen, it can also include any loyal and committed congress worker. It is for
the party and people to decide who the next candidate will be, either mere family
member or a loyal senior congress leader. A strong and well established party like
